The Encyclopedia of Conscientiology
The Encyclopedia of Conscientiology
is a landmark endeavor that will advance the understanding
of the science of conscientiology and register its ideas and
insights through the analysis of the “facts of the universe”
from a conscientiological perspective.
The importance of this work
cannot be overstated as the encyclopedia will provide the most comprehensive
single source of information relating to 'leading-edge' understanding
of the consciousness and its manifestation available in the world
today and will provide a substantial expansion in the volume of
structured and useable research in these areas.
The encyclopedia is being produced in a specially prepared environment
known as the Holocycle,
a specialized facility located at the Centre
for Higher Studies of Conscientiology, in Iguassu Falls,
Brazil.
The work is being headed by Waldo Vieira,
MD, who is the principal researcher responsible for writing the
final texts; nonetheless, there is a team of over 100 researchers
based internationally who are engaged in this work under the direction
of Dr. Vieira.
Both the method adopted to develop the encyclopedia
and Dr. Vieira’s style of work provide an opportunity for
any individual who is interested in making a contribution to do
so. Each individual working with the encyclopedia is able to contribute
their own, unique ideas whilst simultaneously benefiting from Dr.
Vieira's extensive knowledge and understanding of human life. The
only request Dr. Vieira’s makes for participation is that
those who come to work enter the Holocycle with a smile on their
face and a positive disposition.
Researchers make extensive use of the cosmogram,
a specialist method of research conceived and developed by Dr. Vieira.
The Cosmogram is a technique that stimulates a deeper association
of ideas and the development of original concepts through special
analysis of information reported by the media from day to day. [See
Journal
of Conscientiology No.1 for details on the Cosmogram.]
The use of the cosmogram in this context provides the broadest possible
range of subject matter for analysis and inclusion in the encyclopedia.
The entries for subjects falling under the
first few letters of the alphabet are already complete (in Portuguese).
Each entry represents a substantial item of work and a mini-triumph
of consciential endeavor in its own right; for example, the information
included under the heading ‘Belligerent Consciousness’
and 'Reborn Consciousness' is sufficiently extensive that each of
this entries equal the size of a 1,000 page book on the subject.
The atmosphere within the Holocycle
is characteristically tranquil and serene, fostering intellectual
capacity and productivity in participants and the Holocycle
could aptly be described as an 'incubator of ideas' or 'catalyser
of neo-synapses'.

The Holocycle
Holocycle is the term given to the
facility in which the encyclopedia is being completed. Located at
the Center for Higher Studies of Conscientiology in Brazil,
the 500m2 (5380 sq. feet) of the Holocycle was specially created
to act as a 'production-line' of intellectual, mentalsomatic realizations.
Situated inside the existing Holoteca
or multi-media library, the Holocycle occupies a third
of the Holoteca's total area, which is also home to Dr.
Vieira’s 63,000+ volume personal library.
A single expansive work area comprising a
21-meter (approximately 69 feet) marble-topped work surface allows
researchers and writers to work in close proximity, utilizing a
data-bank of reference works that includes more than 2,500 thematic
dictionaries. The data-bank is maintained horizontally displayed,
in a manner that allows easy access to the volumes, laid out in
a continuous length over some 305 tables (numbers correct at the
time of writing – May 2002).
Piles of blank paper are situated around
the work area so that any idea or concept can be documented easily
and at any moment, minimizing the risk of its loss. The extensive
list of ideas generated through this methodology provides valuable
content for debate by the local research team, who have weekly meetings
scheduled for this purpose.
