Location & Directions

The IAC Research Campus is located near the townships of Évoramonte and Estremoz, and less than two hours’ drive from Lisbon, which is served  by direct flights from most major European and North American cities.  The campus is also readily accessible from Spain, being less than an hour’s drive from Badajoz.  Connections to the campus will be further enhanced in 2013 upon the completion of the new Lisbon-Madrid TGV high-speed train, which will stop in neighboring Évora, 30 km (18 miles) away. If you plan to go to the IAC Campus, please have a look on the following information which will be useful for you to get there.

–Getting to the Campus–

From the Lisbon Airport:

If you plan to go to the IAC Campus, please have a look on the following information which will be useful for you to get there.

  • Going by car rental: Most major car rental companies operate out of Lisbon Airport, and prices are reasonable if you book in advance. If it is your first time visiting the campus, ensure that you have a good map or a GPS. The entrance is immediately after the 236 km marker if you are traveling north on EN18 (enter the gates with the sign ‘Herdade da Marmeleira’)
  • Going by bus: Neighboring Estremoz is served by a semi-express bus from Lisbon several times a day.  The trip takes approximately 2 hours.  The Lisbon bus station is a short taxi ride from Lisbon airport, and Estremoz is a short taxi ride from the campus.

From Estremoz or Evora:

Due to the fact that the location is in the countryside – away from cities – you will have to rent a car or take a taxi to come to the Campus.

The IAC Campus is located in the Alentejo region in Portugal, and the following cities and villages are close by:

• Estremoz at a distance of 11 Km.
• Evoramonte (village) 4 Km.
• Évora – 33 Km.

Here you can see the location of the IAC campus in relation to Estremoz in Google Maps. Point “B” of the google map is the confluence of the national road N18 with the entry to the IAC Campus.

Point “A” of the map is located in the city of Estremoz. You can change the location of point “A” and indicate the city of location of origin (starting point) from which you want to leave to come to the IAC Campus and Google maps will indicate you the complete itinerary.

In order to find the entry of the IAC Campus, once that the landscape along N18 looks quite similar, we have created the following interactive map in which you will see some pictures, by moving the cursor through the images and the camera; they will be useful for visual reference points to identify the entry gate to the IAC Campus.

If you got a GPS in your car, you can indicate as destiny the coordinates which you will find in the bottom image and which correspond to point “B” at the googlemaps; the confluence with the national road N18 and the IAC Campus entry.

To contact IAC Campus, please see the data on the bottom of this page.

Have a nice trip and we hope to see you soon!
