Time to be announced (weather dependent). This interactive and fun activity aims at investigating the perception and experience of design and its impact on consciousness. With “Grand Consciousness Experience”, the tour will explore one mile stretch of North Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles, with our consciousness lenses on. Our stops will include:
  • Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts (Exterior)
  • Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
  • Grand Park
  • Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Exterior) and Plaza
  • The Walt Disney Concert Hall Lobby & Garden
  • The Broad Museum (Exterior)
  • MoCA courtyard sculpture and fountains
  • California Plaza & Angel’s flight
  • Grand Central Market
The tour will explore and discuss various types of design components and activities occurring at these locations, and their relationships to consciousness. Using these examples, we will also discuss how can we use design everyday as a tool in our consciousness evolution. Moderator: Manori Sumanasinghe Manori Sumanasinghe is the CEO and Creative Director of a Design & Technology studio based in Los Angeles. She has been involved in mindfulness practices since the early 90’s and became a volunteer at the IAC in 2007. For the past decade and a half, she has been investigating the relationship between the built environment and its impact on the consciousness. She has a background in Architecture.
